Course Description

ArtsAlive! First Grade works well for ages 5–6 and aligns with National Core Arts Standards for first grade. At this level, students build on their knowledge of the basic elements in four domains of the arts and move through 72 video-based lessons.

Music

Builds on a student’s experience with basic elements of music and introduces musical patterns, forms, and dynamics. Students are introduced to both solfège and music notation, they’ll learn more about instrument families, and they’ll continue to practice singing and keeping beats.

Visual Arts

Reviews the seven elements of art and introduces young learners to visual concepts like overlapping, patterns, highlights, and balance. Students will learn about famous artists and their work, and they’ll explore over a dozen hands-on art projects and activities.

Creative Movement

Supports children as they learn different ways to use their bodies to explore and express their emotions. They’ll actively participate with the instructor, learn how to isolate and control different parts of their bodies, and see how people around the world celebrate through movement and dance.

Theater

Teaches young learners about acting and reacting and how they can move with purpose and speak with energy—just like actors do! Students will learn the basics of storytelling, have fun with character voices, and continue to participate in fun, interactive acting games.
